Three Feet of Ribbing to Go!

Doesn't that sound like fun?! LOL You experienced knitters, please ignore my mistake in the cables which I noticed far too late to rip out without crying! If this was going to a knitter I probably would have ripped it, but the overall design effect is not adversely changed so after much discussion with dh, I decided to leave it! If you don't see it, don't look for it and I'm not going to tell you where it is! This is the new pattern Woven Cable Scarf from Miriam Felton. It is meant to be knit in Cashmere, but alas, that is not in the budget anytime in the foreseeable future, so this is being knit in Knit Picks new heathered Wool of the Andes. This is called "Amethyst Heather" but it is exactly the same in color as the Grape Jelly color of their Shadows laceweight. I know this because I had to run that along with the Wool of the Andes for the hat that I knit to go with this, which I will share in another post. I have never knit with their Wool of the Andes before. I had ordered one of their blueish-teal colored skeins and was not overly impressed. Of course coming from a traditional knitting perspective I am a little partial to heathered yarns. :-) This heathered yarn is nice and "spongey" to knit with. By that I mean that it has a cushiony bounce to it. Generally I like to support my lys and women I know who are trying to make a go at it with their own businesses. However, if I can get some basics like this from a discount place like Knit Picks (link at right), then I can spend more money on the special stuff! I would not hesitate to use this again. Now, what I am wondering is how their Telemark is. I love knitting Dale patterns and have several for the kids I want to do, but do not want to put that $$ into it. Has anyone used the Telemark and can give me an opinion? I heard on one blog that it bleeds color? Not a good trait to have if you are doing Nordic colorwork with a dark color and white! I hope this was just a bad, ugly rumor! Any input?!

YAY! It's so pretty! I'm glad to see someone knitting it so soon! I loved watching the cables grow on that scarf and wrap!
