This shows 4 of the wheels I tried (I didn't try the $1100 Schacht-Reeves, a beautiful Saxony style wheel). I also tried a Kromski Minstrel and Louet S10 and S51. I came home with my new wheel, a Lendrum double treadle (labeled in blue as Lendrum DT on the photo). It really was good to try out all these wheels because the ones I thought I would love, I did not and some were not bad, but compared to my experiences with the Lendrum, just weren't the same. I feel very fortunate that I had this experience this time (compared to my first wheel shopping experience) and was able to try so many different ones. I did not think I would want a double treadle, but after using it, I tried the single treadle, then went back to the double treadle...much smoother...like butter! Morgaine also gave me a pound of fiber free. I chose 2 dyed hanks of Wensleydale in purples, a green variegated hank of merino and kid (very soft!) and a blue variegated Colonial top from Ashland Bay (Corriedale). This afternoon I put the wheel together in about 2 minutes and started my first spinning with my friend Cary's fiber...some near black Corriedale from her ram Joseph, mixed with some black alpaca. It is very nice to spin and I hope I can do a 3 play and make socks with it! I am still getting used to the feel of it and adjusting to get enough spin in it. I love it though! Posted by Picasa

I bought the same one from her! I agree she is awesome and she gave me free fiber, too. :) How far away are you from Turlock? Maybe we need to meetup and learn to spin on our new wheels together.
