Welcome to the 2007-2008 students of Pathfinder Academy! Today was our first day of school for the year. D is the only official student, our big first grader. The girls can't be left out of course so they are doing pre-Kindergarten work. We aren't pushing them, but trying to move them along in their abilities. Like many twins, they are on their own developmental time table. Sometimes it seems like they are really behind and then they surprise us. Like this week J popped up with the answers for D's time and money cards! Although it did not appear that she was even paying attention, she had always been present when hubby was using the flashcards with D and she learned many of them! Since hubby does not go back to teaching until September 3rd, he is helping me by working with the girls separately with their alphabet and numbers.
D and I started first grade work and he had a lot of fun. He is a joy to teach because he is excited to learn. I will have to capture that while I can! :o) He is a reading maniac and we are catching up on some of the other things that he has not done before, like history and we are advancing in math. We ordered Math U See to work with him. We also started some Bible teaching today. We are going over "The Golden Rule". I thought that would be a good foundation for our year. In about a month we will begin our Bible curriculum, which begins in Genesis.
Because not everyone is interested in our education process, I began yet another blog here to chronicle our home education journey!

It looks like everyone had a great first day! I hope that the girls start well with Daddy so that you have an easier time once he goes back to work. Praying for you all!

We started today also, and believe it or not they were actually happy about it also!
