Biker Buddies

Grandma and Grandpa got the girls bicycle helmets for their birthdays in March because we thought we were going to get them bikes for their bd present. It turned out we didn't have enough money so the bikes went on the back burner for awhile. But, Grandma and Grandpa are "master garage salers" and they found two cute bikes for the girls. Today Grandpa put them together and after dinner we took the kids out for some fun. This first picture is Grandma and A. A couldn't even wait to get off the patio, she got on the bike and was going to go, help or no help, "get out of my way!" LOL

A took to it pretty quickly. Here she is in the beginning without anyone steadying her...Grandma had her hands free to take pictures! (Yes, it runs in the family!)

Here's everyone, but me, I'm behind another camera. In the foreground is Grandpa with J, A and Grandma are in the middle and then D and Daddy.

Daddy, A, Grandma, D and J after they gained enough confidence to ride along together in a group.

Grandpa and his assistant mechanic, J, lowering her seat a little so that she could pedal more efficiently.

Big brother D is giving little sister A some encouragement. A really learned quickly and at one point D said, "Hey A! You're almost as fast as me!" as she was passing him up! LOL

We all laughed at this picture of J. The way the flash lit the bike, it looked like she was going to take off like the bike in ET.

Here is J, very happy that she finally got the hang of it and enjoying being outside in the fresh air and sunshine.

Here's J, finally "flying solo". Grandma spent a lot of time with her teaching her how to pedal, brake and balance the training wheels.

This is A, saying "Cheeseburger" for the camera as she road past.

Well, all good things must come to an end and little hearts don't always take it well. A was crushed that she had to come in for the evening and quit riding her bike. She protested loudly and finally Grandma had to carry her in.
