Japanese Patchwork & Quilting

This is one of the things I got for Christmas from Rose Tree Crafts on eBay. You didn't know I speak Japanese?! HA HA! I don't! I love the quality of sewing, knitting and crafting patterns coming out of Japan. I have a couple Japanese knitting books and they are absolutely stunning and written in such a way that you can stumble through the directions, especially because of charts. There are also several blogs and sites with translation hints and tips. I've googled til I'm blue in the face and can't find equivalent sites for their sewing books. Still most of it I can do from the diagrams which are more like blue prints than sewing instructions. I've been hoping that someone who reads my blog can give me some tips or send me the right direction.

Because, are these cute or what? I must confess that I have always had a weakness for sunbonnet figures, especially the small ones, like these. There are several bags in varying sizes, including small coin purses and a cell phone bag which I might make for my track phone.

Another weakness is sewing kits, bags, pincushions etc. The books are a little pricey, $20-30, but you get about 50 designs, which are all high quality. I'm having a hard time being good and not starting on some of these projects now! But school is calling! :o)

Amazing, we like a lot of the same things. I think I have this book. I lived in Japan, that's were I learned to knit. I wish I had quilted more while I was there, and bought a stash of their fabrics:) I have several Japanese books, and you are right, they are easy to follow even if you can't read Japanese.
