Songs On Sunday and a Surprise Gift

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing
Robert Robinson, 1735-1790

Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it,
mount of thy redeeming love.

Here I raise mine Ebenezer;
hither by thy help I'm come;
and I hope, by thy good pleasure,
safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger,
interposed his precious blood

O to grace how great a debtor daily
I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here's my heart, O take and seal it,
seal it for thy courts above.

This song was played as a piano offertory during communion today. It's not an easy song for me to sing as I am an alto. But, today it filled my heart with joy as I remembered that God is the source of every blessing. We have a really tight month financially, actually this and next, but it's for a good reason. A very generous lady who we've never met has lent us a car the last couple years. We received a call this week to say that she has moved from the area and would like to sign the title of the car over to us! WOW! It's enough to knock the wind out of you. One can always dream of God answering prayers this way but when it happens to you it is honestly shocking and a little hard to swallow. We'll be tight as we pay for car insurance (she previously insured) and title transfer, smog, licensing etc. But, wow, what a blessing and an AMAZING Gift! I am praying that this lady, who was widowed and now remarried and starting a new life will be blessed beyond measure by our gracious Lord! Thank you God for looking out for our every need and even some of our wants. You are an awesome God!

That is one of my favorite songs, I sing it in my head for days after we sing it at church.

God is so good and that is so exciting that you got the car! Amazing. Like you say, you always dream of having something like that happen but when it does, it is just so incredible.

I pray that whenever you are low, you will use this as a visual reminder of how much God loves you.

We had someone gift us with our gas fireplace several years ago and I try to remember when we are warm and cozy that He did this for us when our family prayed because we had no dependable heat source.

We sang that song yesterday too! I love the iris pictures. And the car is surely an answer to prayer!

What a wonderful blessing! God is so good...ALL the time!

That is a beautiful song, and I love the picture of the Iris. Gorgeous!

We have yet another thing in common...I'm an alto, as well!

I pray you have a blessed week. I may not be on here for a while. Neal goes to the hospital tomorrow.

Thank you, Theresa, for sharing the wonderful news. I will also be praying for the tight finances. :-)

I am finding Pastor Mike's sermons on not worrying about finances helpful and timely.

Keep looking for His tangible blessings as I've been praying them for you and your family.
